Why do you still have symptoms after negative testing of coronavirus?
For some people, COVID-19, no matter its severity, is a one-and-done event, with symptoms clearing up within 2 to 6 weeks of infection with the coronavirus. For others, the initial illness can be just the beginning of an extended period of complications, sometimes even for people who were only mildly ill due to the infection. COVID-19 long-haulers may experience symptoms such as fatigue, body aches, shortness of breath, difficulty concentrating, headache, loss of taste or smell, or other problems long after the coronavirus has left the body.
From prospective of TCM, virus and bacteria infection belong to external evil, it attacks and travels into human body from exterior level (skin and respiratory system), half exterior and half interior level (inter-tissues between skin and internal organs including facia, muscle, lymph system and nerves) and internal organs level (digestive systems, liver, kidney and heart). Your immune system (defensive Qi) will fight against the external evil at each level and try to push the evil out of your body. If your immune system won the war, you would become fully recovered; if not, there will be damages of Yang (function) and yin (body fluid) left after fighting. Those pathogenic damages left at different levels will give you various above-mentioned long term post-infection symptoms.
How TCM treatments help with post-Covid 19 infection symptoms?
What TCM can help is to detect at which level the pathogenic damages lingering at according to your symptoms, tongue and pulse patterns, then help to eliminate those damages by acupuncture, cupping and Chinese herbs. TCM ( 3 to 5 treatments) showed significant effect on about 20 cases I treated. In one case, the effect was beyond my expectation, after only one acupuncture treatment, the patient regained her sense of taste.
